I would not support giving raises to employees during a pandemic and the strong economic downturns that lie ahead for Hawaii. I would seek to repeal HB117SD1 that has given a 10% pay raise to the Hawaii State Legislature to be effective in January 2021 and an additional raises of 2.5% for the next four years. I could not justify raises for the state legislature when so many of its citizens are still out of work and waiting for state benefits. | |||

| a. I signed the affidavit to voluntarily limit campaign spending. I did this to put my money where my mouth is. Campaign spending reform is disparately needed in Hawaii. Certain candidates receive an unfair advantage due to the endorsements they receive from Unions and special interest groups. Any wise person knows endorsements come with strings attached. The current system keeps many well-quailifed candidates from running for office because they know that they can't compete with the candidates that have the connections and special access to these groups because of their political platforms and agendas. | |||

| I will advocate for victims of human trafficking. Too many children in Hawaii are being trafficked with little or no effort to help them. I will seek to write legislation to protect and defend the victims and apprehend and punish the perpetrators. I will work hard to help the 2800 foster care children in Hawaii who need homes. First by helping the nonprofits who are showing results. Second, by hiring more state employees to help these children. I will advocate for special needs children and adults, and their families, victims of domestic violence, those suffering from mental illness and addictions. | |||
| Getting business opened again and people back to work. The citizens I talk to don't want government handouts they want to get back to work. They want to provide for their families. This may require legislation to protect businesses from unwarranted lawsuits due to COVID 19. I will focus on getting all the federal government monies provided for the state into the hands of individuals and businesses. I will work with businesses, state governments, and individuals to get tourism safely and quickly reopened. If money needs to be allocated to help advertise tourism I will support that without tax increases. |
